In an emergency, communication and diligence are essential to cope with the situation. Not only how fast the treatment is given, but also to judge the situation as soon as possible to decide a list of priorities. In general, it is necessary to have a good common sense and to follow the described steps herein.

Keep calm.

Check if the place is safe and the victim is conscious or unconscious.

Call 911 if the child:
Is not responding
Is bleeding profusely
Feels pain or pressure in the chest area
Vomits blood
Present blood in urine or fecal aces
Feels pain or pressure in the abdomen
Presents seizures or heavy headache
You believe the child is poisoned
Has head, neck or back trauma

Make sure that the victim and you are out of danger, specially in a street accident

If there are more than one victim, decide who requires urgent attention

Follow the steps systematically herein:
Open the air ways to make sure the victim is breathing
Apply CPR procedures if required and know how to
Stop hemorrhages immediately
Place the victim in a comfortable position
First aid to burns
Check for signals: cough, breath, movement
Do not let the child suffer cold or heat in excess
DO NOT move the victim, if you suspect a vertebral injury
